Hi! My name is Leandro Massaro. I’m a fitness coach, and a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black-belt under legendary Wellington “Megaton” Dias. I’ve always had a passion for helping others and in 2008 I found my true calling: helping others become a healthier version of themselves through fitness and better nutrition. Since then I have helped many teammates, family members, and friends to lose weight and build muscles, but more importantly, re-gain their confidence. My personal mission has become to help others feel the same well-being and happiness that I feel from being physically fit. Why do I feel so strongly about that? Well, I’ve been on the other side; I know the struggles. Let me share a little bit about my own journey to fitness:
Growing up my friends gave me the nickname “Chubby”. Despite being active, I was never athletic or slim. I loved to eat, and I had a bad relationship with food. I loved everything that was not good for me; processed foods were my friends.

At age 25, after many years of not living a healthy lifestyle, I found myself at my heaviest, 220 lbs. At this time in my life I was overweight, and I experienced all the typical side effects that come with obesity, especially low energy, and low self-esteem. I was not a happy person, so I decided it was time to make a change, and fast! It was time to get fit, healthier, and happier! Everyone kept telling me: “All you need is a new diet and exercises”. Easier said than done! I struggled to find meaningful ways to introduce a consistent exercise program as part of my daily routine. I tried and miserably failed many diets; I joined multiple gyms, but I didn’t make much progress. I was frustrated to say the least.
One day, while sharing my struggles with a friend, he introduced me to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. I gave it a try, and fell in love with it! Within a couple of years, I dropped my weight to a healthy 180 lbs. and I became a fitness and BJJ junkie. I even won the Master’s World’s Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Championship a few years later. I was finally fit, healthier, and definitely happier.

I have been a dedicated Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioner for over 18 years now; teaching BJJ for several of those years. I feel tremendous joy helping others realize their abilities, gain confidence, and improve their quality of life through fitness and nutrition – just as I did. This passion has driven me to become a certified personal trainer (National Academy of Sports Medicine) with additional specializations in corrective exercise and sports performance enhancement.
I learned that fitness goes beyond exercises and nutrition. I owe a large part of my successes to having a good coach – someone who pushed me every training session, and who held me accountable when I lacked motivation; I owe it to team members that had the same positive and healthy goals I had; and I loved the sense of community – being part of something bigger than me, belonging to something more than just a “gym”.
I’m excited to bring you all my experience through our new St. Petersburg Fit Body Boot Camp; leveraging all the knowledge of the Fit Body Boot Camp organization and their extensive experience in the fitness industry. I will strive to provide every St. Petersburg Fit Body Boot Camp member the same “unstoppable fitness formula” and ultimately, the same amazing results experienced by thousands of Fit Body Boot Camp members around the world! We are results-driven! All of our trainers are certified, and we will push and motivate you to give your best every session! I am so blessed and thankful to have the opportunity to embark in this journey – doing what I love, and loving what I do.
